A Note from Marylou McDonald, July 3, 2005 I apologize for not getting this information to you all sooner but I have been waiting for the museum to set up their payment method for purchasing the patterns. The Baltimore Album Quilt patterns include blocks from 4 of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church Museum's quilt collection. The design group who traced the patterns selected the best blocks from these 4 quilts so a balanced, 25 block quilt could be made. The patterns were traced full size, and include all of the imperfections in the original quilts. The fabrics in the Reverend Best quilt have faded to brown except for the reds and pinks. These patterns were taken into the 21st century by providing a CD-ROM that contains pictures of each of the 25 blocks as well as a picture of each of the original quilts. The pictures can be viewed by computer, DVD players (with jpg file capability), or taken to a store that develops prints from CD-ROMs.> The pattern pack can be purchased for $35 plus $6 shipping and handling by calling the Lovely Lane Museum, 410-889-4458 or by emailing Lovely Lane Museum at lovlnmus@cavtel.net starting July 1, 2005. Beginning July 15, 2005, the museum will have a website set up to order patterns and provide information about the quilt show. The website address will be http://www.lovelylanemuseum.com. Online payment for the pattern packs will be handled only through the Lovely Lane Museum PayPal account. An invoice will be generated to you for payment by PayPal and sent to you by email. You do not need your own PayPal account to use this method but if you do, you can also use that. You can use any credit card to pay or you can return the invoice by mail with a check made payable to Lovely Lane Museum at 2200 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. Two local Baltimore area quilt shops are selling fabric kits for 12 of the blocks:
The Lovely Lane Museum along with members of the Baltimore Appliqué Society are putting on a quilt show at the Lovely Lane Museum in Baltimore on November 3 -5, 2005. The show will have approximately 50 antique quilts, 10 from the museum's collection and the others from the United Methodist Churches in the Washington/Baltimore area. The Lovely Lane Church will be displaying the 1640's "Mayflower" quilt. This quilt is believed to be the oldest quilt in America (it's to die for!). In addition, I have been asked about the yellow dot fabric which we used for the Lovely Lane Silent Auction quilts. I used Judie Rothermel's (www.schoolhousequilts.com) off-white eyeball fabric and dyed it with RIT Golden Yellow #42 dye. I followed the directions on the package using only 1 yard at a time per package. The blue fabric in Barbara Burnham's auction block was Patrick Lose's "Royal" #106.
